Technology Level
Amestris is in the end of a cycle of great technological advancement and power. Before the world started to go dark the people there possessed many things that we would find familiar in one way or another- from cellular phones to video correspondence to vehicles and weaponry. In terms of medical technology they were even more advanced, able to use alchemy and tools to repair almost any wounds, even genetic diseases.
Since the fall of society only Central has any ties to this part of their past- and then only the wealthy. The poor can only look on as their families die of hunger, which was once nonexistent, or of injuries and infections that once would have been healed in minutes. Most have returned to a more rural life or working off the wealthy.
Urban Areas
Naturally, after the rebellion cities became dangerous places. Most of them fell into disarray, becoming lawless dens of poverty and criminal activity. Nearly everything is demolished, and what stands are hideouts and dens of very ill repute indeed. Only Central City, with the support of Shamballa Corp, stands with any sort of infrastructure. The people there have minimal electricity and fully running water, things that those outside of the city would consider luxuries. Briggs is a fully functional military fortress but getting in requires connections.
